Important New Application Information for 2019-2020

Unified Enrollment/eChoices will be open between October 1 and November 15, 2019 at GoTo.LAUSD.Net or submit a paper application found in the 2020-2021 eChoices Brochure.
Like all Magnet schools in Los Angeles, admission is conducted through a priority point system based upon the Court-ordered reduction of the harms of racial isolation. Once verified, LAUSD automatically assigns priority points to each applicant through a computer process. Openings at each magnet school are determined by the need to maintain a racially balanced program and available space.
LAUSD assigns students priority points (e.g., matriculation, number of years on waiting list, sibling is at that school, and if resident school is predominantly made up of minorities or is overcrowded).
Admission to our school is through the LAUSD eCHOICES website or through the paper eCHOICES application. Information on the eCHOICES program can be found at: http://echoices.lausd.net/

All parents are encouraged to submit an application online. However, for those who are unable to do so, paper copies of the eChoices English and Spanish (eOpciones) brochures have been printed and will be available at all LAUSD schools, Local District Offices, Los Angeles City Libraries, and the LAUSD Headquarters.
Application Process Timeline
The eChoices application must be submitted the prior year in the Fall for enrollment. Click here to view the 2019-2020 eChoices Timeline. PLEASE NOTE that the eChoices application is only for new students applying to Community Magnet and 5th grade students matriculating from Community Magnet and going into middle school. PLEASE DO NOT apply to another magnet school if your child is already attending Community Magnet and in Grade 1-4 unless you would like to leave Community Magnet. If you apply and your child is accepted into another magnet school, your child will be dropped from our list. Your child does not need to accrue wait list points if already enrolled in a magnet . . . they will matriculate with maximum points.
Applicants MUST be residents of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) at the time of application in order to participate in the LAUSD Magnet Program.
After you submit your application, applicants will receive a confirmation/correction letter from LAUSD. In spring, a second letter will be sent to inform parents/guardians if the student has been accepted or placed on a waiting list. Students living more than two miles from the school are eligible for bus transportation.

Tours of Community Magnet Charter School only happen in the fall prior to when the LAUSD eChoices application is due. Our tour dates for the 2019-2020 school year are: September 17, 2019 at 8:30 a.m., October 17, 2019 at 8:30 a.m., and November 5, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.. At the tour you will be able to hear from our principal and some teachers, tour the campus, visit classrooms, and also speak with current parents. You are welcome to attend any of the tours. You do not need to call or rsvp for any tour.
