Dylan Elliott

Hi! I’m Dylan. This is my second year at CMCS, and I am so excited to be joining the team at this wonderful school.

I am originally from Wisconsin and have lived in Los Angeles for the past five years. It was here that I decided to follow my mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother’s footsteps and become a teacher. I earned my teaching credential and Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Loyola Marymount University. While I was a student, I spent my off days substitute teaching at various schools across LA.

My goal is to have students leave my classroom as more knowledgable, confident, and empathetic individuals with a stronger understanding of who they are and the world they live in.

When I’m not teaching, I love traveling, going to concerts and plays, reading, exercising, watching shows and movies, playing guitar, and playing with my cat, Peppa.

Briana Turner

Hi everyone! I’ve been a part of the CMCS family for the last four years as a teacher’s assistant, but this is my 1st year as a CMCS teacher! Community Magnet is where I discovered the joyous life of teaching and I’m so excited to begin my teaching career at this amazing school. I attended California State University, Northridge for both my Bachelors of Arts degree and teaching credential.

Ultimately, I want to establish a safe and inclusive learning environment that allows my students be inquisitive, motivated, and collaborative. Throughout the year, my students will gain the tools and strategies to become life-long conceptual learners.

I absolutely love vegan food, sunflowers, waterfalls, music, dogs, long hikes, lavender, and of course coffee!

Jackie Pop

Hi! I’m Jackie.  This will be my seventh year teaching, and my fifth year here at Community.

I’ve lived in Los Angeles all my life (except for my four years in college).  I was born and raised here in LA, where I lived with my parents, two older twin sisters and three dogs. I attended Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. While at Skidmore, I majored in both Education and Spanish and during my junior year I studied abroad in Alcalá de Henares, Spain.

My hobbies include cooking (and of course eating), reading, watching movies, exercising, and spending time with my partner and our dog, Sadie. I also love to play and watch sports. I play in adult sports leagues whenever I get the chance (I’m currently playing soccer, softball and kickball). Oh, and coffee…I love coffee!
