Meet the staff of the main office.
Toni Klugh Principal
Hi, my name is Toni Klugh and I’m so happy to be the new Principal of Community Magnet Charter School. This is my 30th year with LAUSD. Though my career up to now has been in Local District North, I’m very happy to call Local District West my new home! I taught grades K-6 for 16 years before becoming a Literacy Coach. I also served as Intervention Coordinator, Bridge Coordinator, and Problem Solving Data Coordinator before becoming an Assistant Principal. I’m proud to have earned National Board Certification in Reading/Literacy in 2011.
Maria Ayala Office Technician
I started my employment with LAUSD in 1977 at Richland Elementary. I worked at Richland up until 2010, I was then transferred to Community Magnet.
Through my years of employment, my greatest joy is watching the kindergarten students grow, graduating from elementary and entering into middle school.
In addition to working with the children, it has been pleasant working with the staff. I have been fortunate to have colleagues that are like family.

Phyllis Yosef Magnet Coordinator
Hi, I’m Phyllis and I am the Magnet Coordinator here at CMCS. I’ve been an educator for over thirty years, and I am proud to say that I still truly love what I do. After graduating from UC Berkeley, I got my teaching credential and master’s degree in Educational Leadership from CSUN. My career at Community has been a bit varied. Before settling in my current position, I taught both third and fifth grades, and then left the classroom to be a Literacy Coach and Magnet Coordinator. When I am not at Community, I love to spend time with family, hike, go to the beach, read, and travel the world. Since my own children are pretty much grown and flown, I treasure the time when we can all get together.

Kathryn Michaels Administrative Support
I’m Kathryn, and I am so happy to be part of this magical school. This is my 11th year serving as administrative support for the principal. I began at Community as a parent volunteer helping in the classrooms of my two sons, no recent college graduates. I then worked as a 5th grade TA, and with some gentle encouragement from my colleagues, enrolled in a teacher credentialing program. I received my credential and a masters in cross-cultural teaching one month after the five-year hiring freeze went into effect in LAUSD - bad timing! Fortunately, I was given the opportunity to serve in my current capacity, which I love - my days are always fun and rewarding!
